The vision of the GCCE program is to create diverse counseling teams to become advocates and support students and clients. The program is designed for school teachers, administrators, staff, advisors, and tutors in schools and universities, human service workers, and individuals interested in counseling work.
The graduates from this program can provide paraprofessional counseling to assist licensed/professional counselors. They can also become advocates and offer support for their students/clients.
The certificate program alone does not prepare the students to work as professional counselors. In order to work in professional counseling such as in schools, additional training, classes, and licensure will be required through a master's degree program.
The certificate program consists of four classes, which are transferrable to a master's program (to be determined by other educational institutions). The program is a one year on-line program.
*The application deadline is April 1st.
